I am finally starting to be able to post some of my recent bridal sessions! Yay! :)

My BF Amy-Rose asked me to help out with an out of town bridal session last week. Aaaand since bridals are my favorite, I, without hesitation, said that I’d LOVE to join. :) I typically don’t shoot when I help, even though I’d really love to, and this time I decided to take my camera along and play with my Lensbaby. I really love the effects that this little guy creates and I just haven’t had the most ideal time to play with it. I thought that maybe if there was a little time, and I wouldn’t be dropping the ball as a “helper!”, I’d go ahead and shoot a few…with Amy-Rose’s permission, of course. ;) So I had the opportunity to take a few fun ones. This is an older version that I bought from a friend that didn’t use it much, although I am now itching to shoot with a newer one to see the different things it has to offer. I didn’t even clean it up much so there are lots of particles on these images that add some “character”. :) My eyes also aren’t very good (and that’s not something you want to hear from a photographer!), and that’s why I depend on the auto focus of my lenses. This Lensbaby is completely manual, so you have to find the sweet spot AND make sure it’s tack sharp. So some of these images aren’t tack sharp, as I would have liked, but I think they are pretty fun. I’ll absolutely be using this lens for future shoots, and I think with a little more practice, they’ll be a bit better.

Fun stuff. As you can see, I was mainly just stealing poses from Amy-Rose. Although I DID make sure that we all didn’t get shocked by the electric fence. :)

I helped Amy-Rose King with a wedding a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time as always! I was running through my cards before cleaning them up and saw these (VERY random) shots that I liked. :) The real post from this wedding is here!

I had the honor of photographing a small, quaint wedding at the precious St. Paul’s Chapel here in Lubbock a couple of weeks ago. Thanks so much for letting me be a part of this special occasion for you both. :)

The minister for this wedding was special to LaDonna and Brandon. He knew the couple did not have a unity candle, or other symbolic gesture of their marriage planned for the ceremony, so he brought in something unique. You’ve seen the two separate sands poured together as a symbol of the couple uniting as one? He had a special twist to this tradition. He brought actual samples of soil from the two places that LaDonna and Brandon grew up. They combined the two, and their children even planted seeds in the soil as a symbol of their uniting their families and growing roots together. Loved that!

I told Laura’s sister, Amber, that there may be about 150 images on this post… I was sort of thinking that was an exaggeration… I counted. It wasn’t.
Like I said before, this wedding was amazing. Every wedding has it’s own special vibe. This one was exceptionally different and special. Everyone that was in attendance knew of it’s significance and its envelopment of strength and love. It had beauty in its simplicity and evidence of hard work and hand crafted detail. This couple poured themselves into this visually stunning and emotionally captivating wedding with snipets of their loves and things from their everyday life. This wedding wasn’t something they had seen in magazines and tried to create. They made it completely their own and anyone who came to share in this joyful occasion knew that this wedding was a reflection of Laura and Kyle. Completely.
It was an unbelievable honor to be asked to photograph this day. Amy-Rose was there as my second shooter for the day and she was nothing short of amazing. She also had her socks knocked off by this couple, and she will post a gabillion images as well! I used a few of her images to fill in the gaps of the story of this lovely day. We decided that this wedding was a photographers’ dream (or ours at least!), and we had an amazing time. Thank you so so very much guys. We didn’t want the day to end. :)

Laura and Kyle were married on New Year’s Eve. It was an amazingly beautiful wedding. They put together some of their most precious things and made this wedding one to truly remember for all that attended. But more on that later. ;) For now, you get to see Laura. Did I ever mention that bridal sessions are my favorite? ;) I’m sure I have…all the time, actually. And Laura, with her natural beauty, made my job so easy. Obviously.

Sometimes, after a long and busy Christmas season, we need a little break. Creatively, I mean. I get so bogged down with trying to find different ideas for back to back sessions that my mind turns to mush and my creativity gets lost in the depths of … well, it just gets lost. Amy-Rose and I can define ourselves as lifeless once our creativity is on the mends. I’m totally speaking on her behalf… :D So just for fun, I asked Carla to model or us. We needed a person who could do whatever we needed her to do without us saying a word. She knew what she was doing. She stepped into her zone, saw where we wanted to be, got her game face on, and started giving us great things. Thanks Carla, for helping us get out of our ruts… or at least mine anyway. ;)
I’ve been on a quest for more of a “film” look for a while now. I think I’m getting closer…fingers crossed. ;) And I hope to be shooting more film soon. Should be a fun ride!
